Philip joined the firm in April 2012 from Goldman Sachs in London to be responsible for building the African investment banking business for the group, in which he was head of Africa Investment Banking and a member of Barclays Africa CIB Exco. He has over 20 years Investment Banking experience, based in London and Johannesburg.
Philip holds a BComm (Hons) in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MSc in Economics for Development from Oxford University.

Denis Pasero joined Ilika Technologies in 2008, as a scientist specializing in battery technology, to manage commercial lithium ion projects. He became part of the Ilika team to apply his strong academic knowledge to commercial applications and saw the potential to be part of the development and success story of an enterprising smaller company with exciting technology and novel product ideas. Today, as Product Commercialization Manager, Denis interfaces between customers and technical teams.

Paul Charles is an experienced senior executive and thought leader focused on renewable, clean energy technologies. He is the co-founder of American Battery Factory (ABF) — the first network of safe, clean, green, rapid-construction, modular gigafactories focused on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells for the energy storage and commercial electric vehicle (EV) markets — and led the company as its first CEO and President. He has 30 years of experience in private and public sectors including energy, nanotechnology, finance, manufacturing, real estate development/construction, mining, and technology. He has structured multiple companies, investment entities, and funds including co-founding an energy company dealing with PEMEX and CFE — Mexico’s national oil and electric companies. He began his foray into the world of energy as the founder of a portable computing peripheral company providing battery charging products based out of the Silicon Valley, Arizona, and Switzerland. He developed, patented, and brought to market the first universal docking station for portable computers and created the first external bay replication products and commercialized them with IBM globally. He graduated with honors in Finance, Accounting, and Economics from Brigham Young University.

Alice is the Head of Corporate Sustainability at the London Metal Exchange (LME). Alice’s role involves the creation and execution of sustainability-related strategy at the LME. This includes leading the work on the LME’s net-zero strategy and LMEpassport, a digitals credentials register which LME-listed metal producers to publicly share environmental, social and governance (ESG) certifications and metrics. Alice joined the LME in 2019, having previously worked at Morgan Stanley.

Nabil Ahmed is a Product Manager at Circularise focussing on the Digital Product Passport solution and LCAs. He has about a decade of experience in Software Product Development spanning across Japan, India, and the Netherlands. He recently completed his masters in Industrial Ecology from TU Delft and Leiden university and specialized in LCAs and Circular Economy. Through Circularise’s Digital Product Passport solution, Nabil aims to harmonize information flows in value chains leading to traceability and circularity.

Maxim Khabur is a Director of Marketing at OneCharge, one of the US leading manufacturers of lithium industrial batteries, and a Chairman of the Advanced Energy Council, representing a group of companies - members of the MHI.org (Materials Handling Industry) Association.

Maxim has an extensive track record in brand communications. With over 10K LinkedIn followers mainly from the logistics, manufacturing, and material handling industries, he brings his experience and creativity to support the commercial success of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible industrial solutions through great marketing.

Joana Prazeres, graduated in Marketing, holds executive masters in Management with Digital Innovation, Service Marketing, along with specialization in Sustainability. She has gained experience various industries, holding leadership positions that encompass a wide range of skills, including Business Development, Marketing Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategic Marketing, Negotiation, Sales Management, and Digital Transformation. She has been involved in dynamic markets and industries such as mining, construction chemicals, real estate, appliances, among others. She has a particular focus on communication, stakeholder relationship management, and sustainability and ESG criteria, placing social and environmental issues at the core of business strategy. She is a member of Women in ESG Portugal, a movement that brings together women who have developed skills in the field of sustainability.

Lakshya joined SFA (Oxford)’s battery team in 2018, after completing his Master’s in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.

At SFA, he is responsible for the battery metal demand forecasting, tracking mid- and downstream players and their relationships, and also tracking battery technology developments. He has completed various consulting projects focussed on alternative battery metal sourcing strategies to help clients improve the ESG credentials of their battery supply chain- from looking at alternatives to DRC sourced cobalt to forecasting the global potential of metal volumes from battery recycling.

Tom is an experienced critical metals analyst at SFA (Oxford), with a decade of extensive client consulting and market research experience across lithium-ion battery metals and materials. As Principal Lithium Supply Analyst, Tom heads SFA's lithium supply research and analysis, regularly evaluating existing assets and producers, as well as upstream projects and downstream conversion capacity

Vladimir Paserin has 29 years of industrial R&D experience working at two of the world’s largest mining and metals companies – Vale Canada (previously Inco Limited) (1988 – 2014) and Rio Tinto Metal Powders (previously Quebec Metal Powders or QMP) (2015 – 2018). He specialized in vapometallurgy of nickel and iron and in the development and production of metal powders. As of Nov. 2018, he holds the position of Principal, VPM Research Inc. and is also employed at the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Dept. of University of Waterloo (Research Associate and Adjunct Assistant Professor). He holds a PhD degree in Applied Physics from University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and has a “Professional Physicist” designation as a member of the Canadian Association of Physicists.

Alessandra leads passenger mobility projects that focus on fleet electrification and accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. She draws from her experience in ESG and sustainability within the automotive industry to consider EV life-cycle impacts when accelerating electrification.

Prior to RMI, Alessandra managed Ford Motor Company’s Responsible Material Sourcing team, ensuring Ford’s global supply base sourced raw materials for Ford products while protecting human rights and the environment. Alessandra has also worked with Ford’s Global Sustainability team on ESG and corporate sustainability programs, and has a background in regulatory compliance, environmental consulting, social enterprise, and entrepreneurship.
