ABOUT

LBCG built strong connections with key OEMs when we started a pioneering series of battery-electric vehicle technology conferences in 2010. In December 2022, our Battery Electric Vehicle Architectures advisory board recommended that we convene a pan-European conference to explore solutions for reinventing the lithium and rare metals supply chain and encouraging OEM collaboration with mining, extraction, investment, and battery technology/chemical firms. OEMs, the end-users of lithium and rare metals, will map out and define their requirements at this conference in collaboration with the battery material supply chain.

We look forward to welcoming you to the inaugural, OEM-led, Lithium & E.V. Battery Raw Material Supply Chain, Europe 2023

Reinventing The Lithium & Raw Material Supply Chain In Europe

European automotive OEMs now face a significant challenge, frequently cited as the most urgent facing the industry today. Addressing how lithium and critical battery raw materials suppliers will meet demand as firms race to ramp up B.E.V. manufacturing. At a cost that works for the bottom line and ultimately for the customer.

One way to alleviate pressure on the European battery raw materials supply chain is to diversify sources closer to Europe. Several projects to produce lithium hydroxide are currently being planned across the European Union, which could help to diversify sources and decrease dependence on suppliers from the Far East. Additionally, certain battery raw materials can be procured from recycled materials, which could help to reduce reliance on new materials from the Far East. Furthermore, the industry can consider measures to reduce its dependence on the Far East by investing in recycling infrastructure and boosting material efficiency. These tactics could help to construct resilient and efficient supply chains for the European energy transition, while also decreasing reliance on countries with a monopoly position.

In addition, in 2023, new battery chemistries are coming onto the market that could help alleviate supply chain bottlenecks and high prices.
